The Melrose Vocal Ensemble - Duruflé Requiem and Choral compline

It wouldn’t be the Music festival without the Melrose Vocal Ensemble, and in a new venture this year, they perform something of a double bill of sacred music.

The first half of the programme is a free event, a religious service of Sung Compline, celebrating choral sacred music from plainsong to the twenty first century, featuring music by Purcell, Arvo Part, Thomas Tallis and others.

The second half of the event will feature a performance of Durufle’s hauntingly beautiful requiem, accompanied by celebrated organist David Goodenough and a string quintet led by international soloist Gina McCormack.
